Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. As a worship leader I find it difficult at times to pick a song list. (This is a Vineyard church.) The pastor wants the music to reflect our church’s "personality" meaning celebration; the congregation that speaks also wants it upbeat and rockin’. While i generally try to start with a song like that, because it allows folks to shed the previous week’s toils and focus, now, on God, I feel like this limits what worship can and should be. To put it briefly, i think that worship music should be about passion, love of God, and intimacy and while this includes celebrating I believe it is more important to get God’s heart and our heart connected. When the music is done, what is it that you want to be feeling? What do you want to get from worship music?
