I can’t believe I have to add this, to those of you that believe you cant play a piano or a guitar to celebrate Christ…. Please.

If Jesus had ment all that you said then why did He inspire King David to make all those instruments for the temple back in the day. I believe the word says that his son Solomon had approx 4,000 instruments in his worship band at the temple (some of which King David made himself). At the dedication of the temple the trumpets sounded the priest sang the the GLORY (shekina ?spelling?) of the Lord came down so hard they fell down and couldn’t minister.

There is no prohibition on instruments in the NT that I know of, and my extensive study of the Hebrew words for praise in this matter, conclusively indicatethat we should use instruments to praise him. God did make a few of us that can’t sing but can play a guitar like a ringin bell.
PS I was blessed to sing, and play purcussion, and a little guitar.

I went to church in a baptist church, and ofcourse in the youth group, you had a band that sang songs about Jesus…which kind of sounds more like apology music, and everone gets sappy…then fall asleep when the bible is read, and go out to eat after church on Wednesdays. I’m a pagan, but I’m currently going to an Eastern Orthodox church, which pretty much is pagan, but with Christ as the center deity. lol I felt very connected. They sing when they pray, and when they invoke various saints for reverence just likr the EARLIEST CHRISTIANS did. THey have beautiful voices, and they’re in good health. Old ladies stand for all night vigil (orthodox mass) and vespers…and it’s more about appreciation than guilt…and I like the fact when you talk about history, they actually know what you’re talking about!

Whatever Happened To Jesus? The fear of the Lord, a love for God’s Word, the Cross of Christ, the Holy Son of God, the Head of the Church- The Bride of Christ repenting and returning to love, obey and worship Jesus! Scripture has much to say about God and His desire for a relationship with His people. We have a God who is steadfast in love, and a people who are prone to wander. You would think that it would be hard to grow cold in affection when you’ve been shown the greatest love the world has ever known, and yet, though we are the very bride of Christ and loved beyond measure… we still find a way to mess things up and stray! In my song “Whatever Happened To Jesus?” I talk about that. In Revelation 2:4 we read, “Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love.” My song addresses various issues, but at the bottom of it all, I suppose forsaking our first love of Him would be at the heart of the matter; it is our forsaking of our first love that leads to all the rest of our troubles. It’s then we began to flirt with the world and look for cheap substitutes to fill the empty spaces He used to occupy. His Word, which at one time was the joy of our hearts, becomes faint in our wandering; we no longer fear displeasing Him or worry about the consequences of our unfaithfulness. The abundant life and living waters that used to flow so freely become but a trickle, and our life begins to look more like a desert than a well watered garden. It’s then that we break out …
